Taster Day Hang Gliding
Taster Days are designed to give participants an overall feel for the sport and include basic theory, rigging, glider control and safety techniques prior to taking to the air on your initial flights.
A typical day starts at 09.00 with the school introduction, paperwork and basic theory before moving to the days flying site at 10.00. Once on site things become much more practical and its not long before the gliders are out and “ground handling” begins. By lunch time its time for a “break” after which the art of being towed is introduced with some gentle hand tows to give the feel of the real thing.
Depending on conditions and pilot ability we hope to get you flying solo (with a radio) across the field at heights up to 40' and for distances of up to 250 meters before performing a good stand up landing then returning for another go.
On a two day Taster session the second day starts at 10.00 on the site and the focus is on developing flying skills. After glider rigging and inspection it's back on the tow line. By the end of the day flights over 60’ may be experienced including the release of the tow line whilst in the air before carrying out gentle turns down to land.
Taster Days are £225 and for those who decide to continue their training and take up the sport taster days can be refundable against the cost of course you book with ourselves.
